Tim & Azin – 31st July 2019
Tim and Azin got married on a warm summers day at Micklefield Hall, an amazing 16th century barn set in the Hertfordshire countryside. I was so excited to photograph this wedding! I met Tim and Azin for their Iranian ceremony just a few days before at Azin’s family home. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. There was lots of laughter, amazing food and some pretty awesome dance moves so I knew their big day was going to be epic!
Bridal Preparations
Azin got ready in the spacious bridal suite at Micklefield Hall with her twelve (yes twelve!) bridesmaids. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in their royal blue and light blue gowns and Tim and Azin’s little girl, Olivia, was so excited when she saw her sparkly white flower girl dress!
Iranian Wedding Ceremony
This was the first Iranian wedding I’d photographed and it was so much fun! I love the fact that there was so much dancing throughout the day and the ceremony was now exception. The girls lined up in pairs and danced down to the lake where the ceremony was held. Tim was beaming when he saw his wife to be for the first time on their wedding day.
Tim’s friend, Andrew Fleming, is a very talented florist and did a great job decorating the venue. The bride and groom couldn’t stop smiling the whole way through the ceremony and gave their guests a wave as they walked back down the aisle.
Wedding Reception at Micklefield Hall
Guests enjoyed champagne and canapes in the beautiful gardens before making their way to The Great Barn for the wedding breakfast. The wedding party made a great entrance and danced their way into the barn whilst all their friends and family cheered. Some speeches followed with lots of happy tears and some heartfelt words from Azin’s dad.
As the day turned to night everyone made their way to the dancefloor for the cutting of the cake. They began with a knife dance, a fun Persian tradition where the bridesmaids dance with the cake knife to try and entice the groom. He then gives each girl some money to try and get the knife back, which they accept before passing the knife on to the next girl.
I left the couple and their friends and family dancing the night away. Tim and Azin, thanks for letting me be a part of your special day. I loved every minute of it! If you’re looking for a Micklefield Hall wedding photographer to document your day, just get in touch!
