Finding the right suppliers can be one of the most stressful things about planning a wedding and picking the right hair stylist is no exception. Holly Kathleen and Hair by Jaydean have got some great advice about booking a hair stylist for your wedding.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK A STYLIST FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Great stylists book up fast so it’s important to start looking as soon as you can.
“Ideally a hair and makeup artist needs to be booked one year to eighteen months in advance. Sought after stylists tend to get booked up early so secure the date with a deposit sooner rather than later.“

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU SPEND?
When you first start planning your wedding, it can be difficult to establish a budget. It’s important to remember that there are lots of talented suppliers out there to suit any allowance so don’t feel disheartened.
“Do your research and of course compare your quotations. Choosing your stylist for your wedding should not only be a love of a portfolio and expertise but also a person you can feel comfortable to work with on your special day.”

HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT STYLIST?
With so much choice out there, it can be difficult to make a decision on the best stylist. Having a trial is a great way to get a feel for how they work on a wedding day and it will also give you an idea of how long you’ll need on the morning of the wedding.
“Do lots of research on the Internet and social media. Some websites can look fantastic but make sure you check the images in the gallery too. Ask friends and family who have got married recently what they thought of their hair and makeup artist and if they would recommend them.“

“Recommendations work best. Connected suppliers will usually work well together on the big day. Finding the right stylist requires some research. Think about your logistics and find suppliers that are happy to travel to you for trials and on the wedding day. Naturally you’ll be drawn to someone’s work which stands out and fits with your wedding styling and choose experienced suppliers who are fully insured in the wedding industry.“

WHERE CAN I FIND INSPIRATION?
Social Media is often the first place that brides turn to for inspiration but it can become overwhelming when you see how much is out there. Magazines can be a great source of inspiration and researching a particular make up artist’s website and Instagram feed can give you a better idea of their style.
“Pinterest is fantastic for finding images of hair and makeup styles you like. You can also follow various hair and makeup artists on social media to get some ideas. Bridal magazines also have lots of current trends to give you inspiration. You should also have a chat with the hair and makeup artist you are looking to book with to get an idea of achievable hair and makeup styles.”
