I grew up in Bushey village, just on the outskirts of town, and went to school at Watford Grammar which was where I discovered my love for photography. When I was 16, my amazing art teacher, Mrs Morgan, saw I had a natural eye for composition and encouraged me to explore the medium in more detail. Despite my love of developing film in the dark room and print making, I went on to do a degree in Architecture. After completing my degree, I realised my passion lay with photography and came back to Hertfordshire to work at a family portrait studio in Watford High Street called Venture. Although my approach to documenting families has developed over the years, I still use some of the lighting and posing techniques I leant when working as a studio photographer in Watford. My focus now is on capturing natural moments in beautiful outdoor locations or in the comfort of your own home. I’ve since relocated my business but miss those trips to the Harlequin Centre (now Intu!) on my lunch break and I’m still an occasional supporter of Watford F.C.

There are also an abundance of beautiful churches in Watford to get hitched. Holy Rood Catholic Church is a beautiful Grade I listed building with ornate gothic revival architecture. I photographed Patsy and Joe’s big Italian wedding there before photographing their wedding reception at Sopwell House. Michael and Ian’s Watford wedding took place at St John’s church on Sutton Road back in 2015, just 15 months after the first same-sex couple got married in the UK!

PHOTOGRAPHING FAMILIES IN GREATER LONDON
If you're looking for an outdoor family photo shoot then Cassiobury Park is one of the best places to go. I've documented lots of children and couples here over the years and there are so many great spots for photos all year round.
Cheslyn Gardens is another picturesque park in Watford that works really well for engagements and lifestyle sessions along with Aldenham Country Park in Elstree. they have an adventure playground, farm and large reservoir – perfect for feeding the ducks! If you’re looking to stay more central then Oxhey Park and Garston Park are great alternatives.
